At Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, our all-through Computing Curriculum is designed to foster a deep appreciation for technology and its potential, from Reception through to Year 13. We aim to instil a sense of enjoyment in using technology while developing pupils' confidence in navigating new tools and software, an essential skill in our rapidly evolving digital world. Our curriculum emphasises creating, managing, organising, and collaborating through technology, ensuring students become digitally competent with a range of transferable skills suitable for the future workplace. Moreover, we focus on nurturing responsible online citizens, equipping pupils with the knowledge of appropriate online behaviour, copyright issues, and healthy technology use.

Aligned with the National Curriculum and integrated with our PSHE scheme, our Computing Curriculum meets the DfE’s Education for a Connected World framework, preparing pupils to meet end-of-key-stage attainment targets and for life in the digital age. The Computing Department prioritises encouraging pupils to think creatively, analytically, and critically. Through practical experience in solving computational problems, including designing, writing, and debugging programs, we ensure pupils understand both the benefits and drawbacks of technology in personal and professional contexts. As the world becomes increasingly reliant on technology, our goal is to equip pupils not only with the skills to use technology effectively but also with the discernment to recognise its broader implications.
