At Guru Nanak Sikh Academy, we believe that Design Technology is an inspiring, rigorous, and practical subject that nurtures creativity and imagination in our pupils. Our curriculum provides pupils with hands-on learning experiences, encouraging them to select and safely use appropriate tools to create products they are proud of. For our pupils, many of whom speak English as an additional language, Design Technology offers a unique way to express and communicate their ideas. By modelling specific techniques and skills, we allow pupils to fully engage in the design, make, and evaluate cycle, fostering an appreciation for the process of creation and the refinement of their work.

We understand that Design Technology helps pupils design and create products that solve real-world problems, taking into account their own needs as well as the needs, wants, and values of others. Pupils are encouraged to assess the effectiveness of their designs and consider the requirements of the products they develop. As pupils move into secondary school, our curriculum extends their understanding of technology, including I.C.T., by providing diverse opportunities to apply these skills in a variety of situations. The Createch Faculty at GNSA further instills a passion for Creative and Performing Arts by linking these subjects to academic core content across the curriculum. By developing a wide range of transferable skills, we aim to equip pupils with tools they can enjoy in school and carry into their future working lives. We are committed to offering an inspiring, challenging, and outstanding learning environment through quality first teaching and learning.
